About Pack 893
Who can join the pack?
Any child can participate that is elementary-school aged. And yes, that includes girls! Our pack is mostly composed of those that live in the Mohawk and Canyon Creek attendance areas, but that is not a requirement.
When does the Pack/Den meet?
We have monthly Pack-wide meetings during the school year except in December. These are usually on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-7:30p at Arapaho United Methodist Church. Individual dens (small groups based on age/grade) set their own dates/locations for when to meet, which is typically once a month during the school year.
Besides pack/den meetings, we have 2 family campouts (fall/spring), the Pinewood Derby, service projects, monthly pack hikes, and more! Most of these are held on Saturdays. There are also monthly events scheduled in the summer, usually at a swimming pool, rock climbing gym, etc. to escape the heat.
See Pack Events for more.
What does registration and dues pay for?
Dues go towards paying for most activities, council registration, adult leader training and certification, insurance, campouts (campsites and food), pinewood derby kit and race, achievement awards, etc.
Are there additional costs once we join Cub Scouts?
Generally, nothing required. Most elect to purchase a pack tshirt. Once or twice a year we will have pack gatherings that cost around $20 per scout. These are typically during the summer months and are not required events.
Is fundraising required in your pack?
No! Individuals can sell Scout Popcorn in the fall and do Camp Card (discount card) sales in the spring. These are done on a voluntary basis. We continue to put these on because we believe the experience and knowledge that come as a result (regardless of age!) are valuable for the scouts.
